Sterling Community Center
The history behind Sterling Community Center began in 1967 when Sterling High School, a highly regarded African American high school in the State, burned down leaving only the gym and a small music building remaining. A year later both the Sterling Community Club, Inc. and the Greenville County Rec were formed. The organizations agreed to partner and create a community center in the old gym with Roscoe Sadler at the helm. It was dedicated on July 12, 1970. Today, the Sterling Community Center offers programs for youth, adults, and seniors.
